Charlie Bolyard has 50 years of construction management experience including serving as an inspector, estimator, scheduler, senior field engineer, project engineer, and project manager for owners, contractors, and consultants. Since co-founding MBP in 1989, Charlie has been instrumental in the firm’s continued success and has delivered value on a diverse range of professional services including CPM scheduling, cost estimating, program and project management, constructibility review, delay and impacts analysis, damages analysis, construction claims evaluation, expert testimony, litigation support services, and as a mediator and third-party-neutral in resolution of construction disputes. Charlie continues his involvement in MBP’s activities focusing on client projects, client relationships, and mentoring.
Charlie is an active member of AACE International (AACE) and was named a Fellow in 2010, and was named as Honorary Life Member in 2021. He currently serves as Chairman of the AACE Certification Board, following his term as President in 2017-2018. He is a member and was also inducted into the College of Fellows for the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) in 2011.

1. How did you get into a career in construction?
My family was involved in construction in both the public and private sectors, so for me, it was a natural progression.
2. What was/is the project you are most proud of?
Penn North Transit Station in downtown Baltimore – 640 feet long, 54 feet wide, and 120 feet deep via open cut.
3. What is your dream vacation/favorite travel spot?
Anywhere I can go with my wife, Sandy.
4. What is some advice you’d give to your 20-year-old self?
