1. What got you into your current career path?
Prior to graduating from college, I took a course in Construction Safety and Risk Management. Now this didn’t get me into my current career path, but it did give me fundamental knowledge in occupational health and safety. I applied these teachings on my first project right out of college and I really enjoyed and became passionate about the health and safety of people on the jobsite. It was this experience which helped me turn safety into a career.
2. What’s your favorite thing about your job?
Being able make a difference and look out for the health, safety, and wellbeing of my team members at MBP is my favorite part of the job. Successfully constructing a challenging project has always given me a sense of pride but knowing that I created a control or process that helped bring a team member home safely really makes my job satisfying.
3. What was/is the career milestone you are most proud of?
I was most proud of being promoted to the Director of Safety here at MBP. I spent years cultivating the appropriate experience, training, education, and certifications to get into the position and to have all the hard work finally pay of is very gratifying.
