MBP is pleased to announce that Virginia State University (VSU) has selected the firm to provide construction project management services for a new $60 million Multipurpose Center.
MBP will be providing construction project management services, which includes serving as the on-site VSU owner’s representative, providing project management, design review, value engineering, schedule analysis, constructability reviews and quality assurance inspections. Additionally, MBP will facilitate communications and coordination between VSU and other project stakeholders through project closeout. The project is scheduled to begin in August 2013 with completion scheduled for May 2015.
“This is an exciting project for VSU and we are thrilled to be a part of their team,” says Don Young, PE, CCM, Regional Manager. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with VSU, and are committed to providing quality services with the level of excellence VSU has come to expect of MBP.”
The project involves the construction of a new 167,874-square-foot multipurpose center, which will pursue LEED Certification for New Construction (v2009). The new facility will house a diverse list of functions and user groups, including meeting and classroom space, student wellness center, team support facilities, spectator support facilities, team practice facility, building operations, and spectator seating.
The Multipurpose Center is designed as a 5,500 fixed/6,500 total capacity seat facility to accommodate VSU men’s and women’s athletic events, commencements and conventions. It will replace the Daniel Gymnasium as home to the university’s basketball and volleyball teams.
