MBP provided construction management, quality assurance, move management, safety management, cost estimating, CPM scheduling, and claims analysis services. This project was a result of the 2005 BRAC Commission’s recommendation to realign all tertiary (sub-specialty and complex care) medical services formerly located at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The design-build project included 682,000 square feet of new medical office, emergency room, and patient care construction as well as 400,000 square feet of renovations to existing facilities. New construction included a six-story ambulatory care facility, a four-story diagnostic and testing in-patient facility, and a 943-space parking garage located adjacent to the ambulatory care facility and connected by an enclosed walkway. Three new enclosed walkways, a pavilion, and a logistics tunnel connect new buildings to the existing facility. Renovations included low, medium, and high levels of interior upgrade to house clinical, administrative, and research spaces. This project is LEED Gold certified.
