MBP provided enhanced commissioning of the building energy systems for compliance with the North Carolina Senate Bill 668 and USGBC LEED Energy & Atmosphere Prerequisite 1 and Credit 3. This state-of-the-art student center project included 173,041 gross square feet of additions to the existing facility, and renovations to the existing 117,421-square-foot building. The project included demolition of the existing bookstore building and creation of a new courtyard in its place. Associated infrastructure included connection to the campus chilled water and steam systems. The student center provides space for departmental and student organization offices, performing arts and cultural activities, an art museum, university dining venues, and associated support offices as well as 75,000 square feet of retail space. This project received LEED Silver certification.
