MBP provided construction engineering and inspection services for VDOT’s Southgate Interchange project. The Southgate Interchange project enhanced the roadway network surrounding Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, by delivering a new gateway that significantly improved traffic flow and safety on Route 460 entering Virginia Tech’s campus. The existing signalized intersection at the U.S. Route 460 Bypass and Southgate Drive was replaced with a diverging diamond interchange and Southgate Drive was realigned to connect to the new interchange. When it was opened, the diverging diamond interchange on the Route 460 Southgate Connector project was the fourth of its kind in Virginia and only the second in the western portion of the state.
